Job Description

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Clinical Information Systems, the Radiology Information Systems (RIS) Administrator coordinates all of the technical related activities within Radiant (Epic’s RIS module). Serves as the primary technology contact and liaison for the Health-IT team. Monitors the performance of Radiant, its associated interfaces and equipment, and leads the planning effort for system procurement, enhancements, upgrades, testing and validation activities.

Accountable for the day-to-day RIS application support operations, Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) integration and workflows, voice recognition integration and workflows, archiving, quality assurance of data, and other related activities as defined within the body of this position description. This position will be responsible for collecting user requirements and translating them into well-engineered, tested, and deployed business application systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience overseeing an inpatient and/or ambulatory RIS environment.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail. Solid knowledge of RIS/PACS software, system interfaces, modality integration, and Electronic Health Records. Demonstrated ability to understand complex diagnostic imaging test and related terminology. The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, both verbally and in writing. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Certification in Radiology Information Systems administration. Networking, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Server, and ARRT certifications.
Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and complex database administration a plus.
Knowledge of Epic System software and/or Radiant certification a plus.

Manages, monitors and maintains the RIS to ensure the maximum uptime and availability:
- Perform daily maintenance and system health checks
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot peripheral devices, modalities, and system interfaces
- Configure, maintain, and document user access, user profiles and system configurations
- Configure, maintain, and document backup procedures and validate disaster recovery protocols

Works collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop operating standards, policies and procedures, and training programs. Reviews feedback from system users and compiles and analyzes support data and recommend procedural and training modifications as appropriate.
- Applies expert level understanding of Radiology operations, processes and workflows with the ability to accurately document, discuss and identify dependencies with project team members and stake holders.
- Accountable for establishing changes in workflow, communicating changes and providing quality assurance checks to ensure that standard practices are followed.

Serves as the primary point of contact for vendor support assistance during the project lifecycle as well as in resolving issues and coordinating patches/upgrades within the current portfolio areas assigned. Manages relationship with and works with external vendors.
