Job Description

Support Faculty in all administrative/clerical aspects of in-patient and out-patient surgeries, procedures, or specialized testing including prompt posting of cases, appropriate coordination with associated services, benefit coordinators, patients and families to ensure quality care delivery, effective use of provider resources, robust revenues, and an excellent patient experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous surgery scheduling experience, proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR), Bilingual, proficiency with Outlook, knowledge with ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Job Duties

Job Duty

Schedules non-clinic surgeries, admissions, and procedures or specialized testing for in-patient, out-patient, or ambulatory surgery centers including associated services for these events to include anesthesia, equipment representatives, etc. Ensures schedules are in accordance of provider availability and preferences. Provides proper documentation for all orders pertaining to the requested surgery or admission and completes all required paperwork necessary for patient admission. Follows up on any outstanding issues to ensure surgery is performed at the scheduled time.

Tracks all scheduled cases and notes any circumstances for delayed, cancelled or postponed surgeries. Participates in initiatives to promote quality, improve processes, gain efficiency, and improve the patient experience

Job Duty

Maintains frequent communication with providers, nurses, benefit coordinators in relation to the surgery case. Educates patients and families regarding any pre-op and post-op instructions. Coordinates with PCP and other specialists to ensure clearances are obtained as ordered.
