Job Description

Schedulers for the Ophthalmology department take a high volume of incoming calls, work scheduling reports, route messages, and register patients while providing the best customer service.

Job Duty

Schedules appointments and completes all necessary fields to include but not limited to: appointment notes (complete reason for visit), referral source, Primary Care Provider, preferred language, and assigning correct coverage and guarantor.
Reviews patients co-pay amount (specific for scheduled service) and any outstanding balance with patient. Explains that payment is expected at the time of service. If patient has questions regarding co-pay, balances or is unable to pay, transfers call to the Benefits Coordinator. Creates full registration on all new patients to include but not limited to: complete demographics, insurance coverage, guarantor information, referral source, and contact information.

Work patient registration work que, confirmation report, recall report, reschedule report, and scheduler in basket on a daily basis.

Processes all internal referrals per in-basket process following provider protocol, by either scheduling or waiting for provider direction on scheduling.
